Need to get legal advice? Want to discuss your case and get an expert opinion? Need guidance or help deciding on your next step? Want a friendly voice of reason to tell you that you are not crazy? You need a consultation.
Why you need a Legal Consultation
By the time you are consulting with me, it usually hasn’t been your day, your week, your month, or even your year. (Cue the friends theme song; “I’ll be there for youuu.”)
Having a consultation with an attorney is an important step in the journey toward the resolution of your case. Often people are not aware of the law in Texas, or they have been vastly misinformed by friends, relatives, Facebook and Hollywood.
Why I Charge for Consultations
While I do answer my own phones, I do not give on the spot legal advice outside of a scheduled consultation. There are several reasons for this. The first reason is setting up consultations allows me to weed out the tire kickers. It allows me to focus on clients who are serious about hiring an attorney and are ready to put some skin in the game and move forward in their case. It also allows me to eliminate people who don’t value my time as an attorney.
Additionally, it lowers the chance that an opposing party is trying to “conflict out” all of the good attorneys in the area by doing quick consultations with them all so their spouse can’t hire one because of ethical rules. It also allows me to have dedicated time carved out to focus on your case and your facts.
What Happens During our Consultation?
During our consultation, which is usually via phone, we can discuss what your case entails, the positives, and negatives of your case, give you legal advice and help you strategize your next move. Sometimes that next move is filing immediately. Sometimes that next move is waiting for one reason or another.
At the end of our consultation, should you decide to retain my services, I will send you intake forms, a fee agreement, and take your retainer payment. 99% of my consultations are via phone, but there are times I am available to accommodate an in person consultation.
I charge an extremely fair rate of $250 for an initial consultation. Regardless of whether you retain me afterward, you’ll leave with a more thorough understanding of your case’s strengths and weaknesses.
I am so happy you found my website and I would love to schedule a consultation with you to discuss your case and get you one step closer to the resolution you deserve! There is light at the end of the tunnel (and it is not a train!!!)
